Installing ProMass for Xcalibur
Use the following steps to install ProMass for Xcalibur Note: You must be logged onto Windows NT/2000/XP with administrator priviledges in order to successfully install or uninstall ProMass for Xcalibur. Thermo Scientific's Xcalibur must be installed on the machine or ProMass will not run. First review the system requirements. If you are installing for the first time, you will need to obtain a validated software license. However, you need to install the software before you can obtain a license. After installing, launch ProMass to obtain the license validation screen. Follow the instructions on the license validation screen. If you are performing a major upgrade, which involves installation with the full installer package, it is recommended that you uninstall ProMass first before installing the new version. Unless instructed by Novatia, uninstalling will not generally require you to obtain a new license key. On occasion, Novatia will provide minor updates that do not require the full uninstall/reinstall. You will be instructed if this is the case and if there are any special instructions for the installation of files associated with a minor update. If you have downloaded a full verion, unzip the ProMassInstall.zip file, open the ProMassInstall folder and double-click the setup.exe file. If you are installing from a CD. Load the CD, locate and run setup.exe. Follow the on-screen instructions for installation. If the installation is being performed on Windows NT, the installer may require you to reboot your system before ProMass can be installed. You will be prompted if this is the case. As always, feel free to contact Novatia if you have any questions.
